It's no secret I grew up eating ravioli from a can and fruit cocktail topped with a Red Dye #5 cherry. Was there nothing finer?
Healthy eating was a skill I didn't pick up until I was in my 20's--and even then I often regress, sliding into old habits before I can think twice about the merits of eating organic-grown produce from the neighborhood farm.
And so it was that I happened to be strolling home after a trip to the library, planning ahead to the wholesome lunch I would make for Lucy upon arriving home. And so why was I not five minutes later in the frozen food section of my local health food store, picking up a bag of tater tots?
Listen. When you need comfort food, you need it. Is it so bad to cave in once in a while and divvy up the not-so-healthy snack? I would say not. Rare and random, the occasional stroll down memory lane might do yourself wonders and at the same time, create a whole new set of treasured memories, this time for your own little one.
And with all these organically updated versions of our old junk food, who can resist the splurge? For Lucy and I, treating ourselves to a mound of tots proved just the fix for lightening our wintry dark mood. And so long as she doesn't come to expect such things every day, I think she'll be fine.
It just so happens Cascadian Farms is not only local, it's organic.
So that means at least a second helping.
Right?

Cascadian Farms is owned by General Mills now, and they have a ton of preservatives in them, watch out!
